Awards & Judges

As a participant in the Fantasy of Lights Boat Parade, you are automatically entered into the competition to win some great cash prizes! The theme for this year is Silver Bells! In honor of the 20th anniversary of the Boat Parade. Your unit number/burgee must be visible on the port side of your boat to be judged.

A panel of local community members will use the following criteria to determine the winners: originality, technical design, and entertainment value, to maximize the parade theme. Overtly commercial units that do not conform to the entertainment theme will be disqualified.

This year, cash prizes of $500 each will be awarded to the best units in 6 separate categories:

  • Best Use of Lights
  • Best New Entry
  • Best Special Effects
  • Best Music
  • Best Themed - Silver Bells
  • Best Originality

In addition, we will give away an award for 'Most Jars of Peanut Butter Collected'. The winner of this award will present a one-of-a-kind trophy from Tempe Community Action Agency. You can make a difference in the lives of hungry, low-income families and individuals who turn to Tempe Community Action Agency (TCAA) for help this holiday season by collecting jars of peanut butter and donating them at the Fantasy of Lights Boat Parade Captain's Meeting.
