Downtown Tempe is your home for the holidays! Sing along with us as we prance through the holiday season with these classic holiday songs. All of these songs are tied to special downtown Tempe businesses, charities, and fun things to do. So, listen to our playlist and listen along while you read all about our downtown Tempe offerings!
There’s no Place Like Home for the Holidays
Downtown Tempe and the City of Tempe is your home for the holidays this year (and every year, for that matter). Check out our Open Status Guide to help you find restaurants, stores and venues that are currently open in downtown Tempe. The City of Tempe also has a holiday portal and in partnership with Hownd, has various ways for you to help small businesses this holiday season.
The Christmas Shoes
Need some shoes for yourself or a gift for some else? Go grab your Christmas shoes at the Shoe Mill! Check out their Instagram for specials and those unique Birkenstocks no can live without.
Up on the Housetop
Up on the housetop… ASU flags fly! Head over to Cactus Sports on Mill Ave. to get all your new and retro ASU gear this holiday season. We are all sun devils at heart!
"Santa baby, I forgot to mention one little thing... a ring."
Take a stop by the 6th Street Market! We don’t just have jewelry; we have hundreds of unique finds ranging from art to food every Sunday until Nov. 29! Missed it this year? It'll be back each week starting Feb. 14, 2021!
Santa Claus is Coming to Town
That’s right! Santa will be here on Thanksgiving night to help kick off the holiday season! Tune into our Downtown Tempe Holiday Special on Facebook Live for some warm greetings from city officials, fresh holiday tunes, and a special surprise!
Baby, it’s cold outside
It’s getting a little bit cooler as the days pass, so head over to Pitaya for some stylish “winter” clothes to show off on Instagram (because where can we really go). Be sure to tag them and us @DowntownTempe or #DowntownTempe.
O come, all ye faithful
We all know this holiday season is harder than others but it will not be so merry for those who less fortunate this holiday season. If you have the means, take the time to donate money, gifts, food, or your time to the Tempe Community Action Agency or the Salvation Army this holiday season. Currently, we are raising money for the TCAA during our Facebook Live holiday special and continually on our website. Even $5 can make all the difference. Donate here.
Jingle Bell Rock
Not only will there be live music at the Downtown Tempe Holiday Pop Up on Dec. 6, but every Sunday on Caffe Boa’s patio, there will be live music from noon until 3 p.m.! Grab a glass of wine, enjoy some delicious food, indulge in the open-air patio, and relax while listening to heartwarming tunes.
Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree
Where is the best spot to eat, drink and be merry? We are going to go out on a limb and say Pedal Haus Brewery! Enjoy the cooler weather on their massive, open-air porch while gazing at downtown’s 40 ft. Christmas Tree all lit up and decked for the holiday season. Be sure to check out their Instagram for holiday brews and specials!
Run, Run, Rudolph
Since we all know the food comas are forthcoming, it may be a good idea to take a hike up A Mountain or a refreshing jog at Tempe Beach Park while the weather remains magnificent.
You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch
The virus is the biggest Grinch this season, but don’t let it bring us down! As the phrase of the year goes – we are all in this together! We implore you to please help as many small businesses as possible this holiday season. Their livelihoods are tied to their businesses and it’s important we all have the best holiday season possible. Head over to our Stay Safe and Stay Supportive blog post for ways you can help your community.
What are you doing New Year’s Eve?
We all want 2020 to be a distant memory. At the end of December, our new 2021 statue will be installed at 5th Ave & Mill Ave (near the Post Office) for your photo taking pleasure. There will also be a special surprise for those wanting to see 2020 burn away into history. Trust us! It’ll be great. While you’re downtown, have a drink at one of the many bars along Mill Ave. Check out our directory!
