Entry Fees & Application

Individual or Community Units:

Earlybird Fee (Register before Oct. 15): $35

Register between Oct. 16 - Nov. 6: $45

Downtown Tempe Merchant/Business Units:

Earlybird Fee (Register before Oct. 15): $165

Register between Oct. 16 - Nov. 6: $175

Commercial Units:

Earlybird Fee (Register before Oct. 23): $265

Register between Oct. 24 - Nov. 6: $275

Awards & Judges

As a participant in the Fantasy of Lights Opening Night Parade, you are automatically entered into the competition to win some great cash prizes! The theme for this year is Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree! 

A panel of local community members will use the following criteria to determine the winners: originality, technical design, and entertainment value, to maximize the parade theme. Overtly commercial units that do not conform to the entertainment theme will be disqualified. 

Thank you for your interest in the 24th Annual Fantasy of Lights Opening Night Parade! This year, cash prizes of $500 will be awarded to the best unit in 6 separate categories:

  • Best Use of Lights
  • Best New Entry
  • Best Special Effects
  • Best Music
  • Best Themed
  • Most Original Unit  

New this season, the award for 'Most Jars of Peanut Butter Collected'. The winner of this award will be presented a one-of-a-kind trophy from United Food Bank. You can make a difference in the lives of hungry, low-income families and individuals who turn to United Food Bank for help this holiday season by collecting jars of peanut butter and donating them at the Fantasy of Lights Opening Night Parade Captain's Meeting.
