Everyone loves a parade, right? In Tempe, we invite the community to kick off the holiday season by gathering to watch a procession of festively decorated parade units of all shapes and sizes.
Every year on the Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving (depending on ASU’s football schedule…go Sun Devils!), Santa Claus arrives in Downtown Tempe along with festive floats, a celeb Grand Marshal and local marching bands along Mill Avenue.
The 23rd Annual Fantasy of Lights Opening Night Parade takes place on Friday, November 24th, 2017. We are honored to have Amanda Borden, captain of the gold medal-winning United States gymnastics team in the 1996 Summer Olympics, lead the parade as the Grand Marshal. The parade is once again sponsored by Wells Fargo while the Tree Lighting Ceremony is sponsored by Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital.
Starting on Mill Avenue at 3rd Street, the U-shaped parade route travels south to 7th Street, west on 7th through Centerpoint Plaza and north on Maple back to 5th Street. To get to the parade on time, know where to park and explore public transit options.
Make Downtown Tempe your Home for the Holidays this season!
