Tempe's Military Tribute Banner Program
Honor a hero in your life.
In partnership with the City of Tempe, Downtown Tempe Authority is proud to honor veterans, active-duty military members, and those preparing to serve through the Downtown Tempe Military Tribute Banner Program.
Community members, businesses, and organizations can sponsor a custom tribute banner featuring a service member's name, photo, and military branch. Banners are proudly displayed on Downtown Tempe's iconic historic lamp posts throughout the district, including Mill Avenue, 5th Street, and beyond.
How It Works

Order a Tribute Banner
Downtown Tempe is accepting Military Tribute Banner submissions for upcoming display periods.
Orders are placed directly through Military Tribute Banners, who will work with you to customize your banner to the highest quality. Please note that payment must be received before design can begin.
November 2026 Display
Complete all required ordering and design steps by September 30, 2026.
July 2027 Display
Complete all required ordering and design steps by May 31, 2027.
Fees
New Banners:
$120 early pricing from July 15 - August 15
$135 standard pricing after August 15
There is no cost for Gold Star Banners or New Enlistment Banners. Gold Star Banners honor those who died in recent wars, from the Vietnam Era to present, or from the inner battles of those wars. New Enlistment Banners honor those enlisting in the same year as the display period.
Existing Banner Reinstallation: $30
For existing banners, please contact allyson@downtowntempe.com.
Additional Program Details
- Up to two years of complimentary display, typically two to four display periods
- An installation fee may apply beginning with the third year of display
- New banner spaces are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis
- Invoice payment through Downtown Tempe Authority is available upon request
