The Instagrammable phenomenon is back for its biggest race yet. Where else can you run for a cause with a fistful of powdered chartreuse, rock out to top hits in a cloud of color and tropical scents and ultimately crash into the finish line alongside thousands of your closest friends?

Only at The Color Run.

On Jan. 23, thousands Valley-wide will ditch muddier terrains for color-blasted pathways in Downtown Tempe’s happiest race of the year, The Color Run. This year, runners are transported to beachy bliss with a new island-inspired Tropicolor™ theme.

But it’s not just about chucking paint and making people smile, The Color Run is committed to making each community a more vibrant place by teaming up with a local charity in each city they visit. Here in the Valley, The Color Run has pledged to donate a portion of race proceeds to Banner Children’s.

“Partnering with a worldwide organization that promotes healthiness, happiness and individuality couldn’t be more of a perfect fit,” said Banner spokesperson Becky Armendariz.

With no winners or official race times, The Color Run is unlike any of its kind. There are only two rules; wear white at the starting line and cross the finish line doused in color. Participants, known as Color Runners, run a five-kilometer race and are showered head to toe in colored powder at each kilometer along the way.

This year’s Tropicolor™ theme is complete with a high-energy DJ, vibrant color throws, island-inspired scents and eye-catching tropical decor. Some may call it sensory overload, most say it’s the ultimate euphoric experience.

“Bringing The Color Run Tropicolor™ World Tour to Tempe was a no brainer for us,” said Travis Snyder, founder of The Color Run. “The energy of Downtown Tempe paired with the island-style vibes of Tempe Beach Park make the perfect setting for our 5K vacation!”
