Galentine's Day: "Ladies Celebrating Ladies"

Galentine's Day is Sunday, February 13-
Celebrate in Downtown Tempe

Galentine's Day: The best faux holiday created by a faux character.

If you are a fan of Parks and Recreation, then you know Leslie Knope got a bunch of her lady friends together for waffles, love and appreciation on February 13 as a way to show her friends how much she loved them, as she says "ladies celebrating ladies." The episode aired over 12 years ago and Galentine's Day is officially a "thing". So grab the ladies you love and follow this Galentine's Day itinerary in Downtown Tempe.

Stop #1

Uber or Lyft into Downtown Tempe or if driving, swing into the 201 S. Ash Parking Garage (free parking on weekends!) or into a metered parking spot - always free on Sundays!

Waffles for breakfast of course! Pay tribute to Leslie Knope and gather at Morning Squeeze on 7th Street for a Belgian Waffle and Brunch Punch or at Daily Jam on Mill Avenue for Red Velvet Waffles and a Bourbon Maple Bloody Mary.

Stop #2

What a coincidence! Walk a few steps onto the car-less Mill Avenue for 2nd Sundays on Mill Avenue on Sunday 2/13 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.. You'll find over 75 local artisans and makers offering home goods, jewelry and more - you're sure to find something to show your girlfriends how much you love them. Galentine's Day falls on Super Bowl Sunday, so you'll also find some sports-themed fun activities for you and your girlfriends - yoga, line & tap dancing, mini golf and craft-making. Admission is free and you're sure to have a ball!

Stop #3

More shopping! The weather is great this time of year for strolling down Mill Avenue. Find cute outfits at Pitaya and Urban Outfitters. Create your very own customized scent at Lotions & Potions and see what the latest imports are at Yucatecan - unique jewelry, bags and clothing.

Stop #4

Time for Henna! No day out with the girls is complete with a trip to the Henna Shoppe located on Mill Avenue between 4th & 5th Streets. Locally owned and lovely, your ladies will love getting some temporary body art, loading up on body care products, candles, incense and aromatherapy supplies.

Stop #5

All this fun makes a girl thirsty, so it's time to hit the roof at the Alibi Rooftop at the Canopy Hilton Tempe at the corner of Myrtle Avenue and 7th Street for their Galentine's Rooftop Ladies Night. From 6 - 9 pm, you'll enjoy the $6 Bubbly Bar, pop-up shops featuring female vendors, live music with female artists and (because those waffles were soooo long ago!) $2 off food items in Alibi.
