Downtown Tempe Upgrades to Multi-Space Meters

Downtown Tempe is modernizing on-street parking with the installation of new multi-space meters. These innovative kiosks manage multiple parking spaces through a single unit, replacing the outdated system of one meter per parking space.

The benefits of this upgrade are numerous. Multi-space meters reduce sidewalk congestion, creating a more open and inviting pedestrian experience. With fewer physical meters cluttering the sidewalks, pedestrians can enjoy a smoother and more accessible path.

For drivers, multi-space meters offer unmatched convenience with multiple payment options. After parking, you can choose from three easy ways to pay:

• Kiosk Payment: Locate the nearest kiosk, usually assigned to a specific block, and pay using a debit/credit card or coins.
• ParkMobile QR Code: Scan the QR code on one of the green ParkMobile signs posted throughout Downtown Tempe.
  
  
• ParkMobile App: Download the ParkMobile app, which uses geo-location to identify your parking zone and allows you to complete the payment process seamlessly.

The ParkMobile app also enables drivers to extend their parking sessions remotely, removing the need to rush back to a kiosk to add time. This flexibility ensures that your experience downtown is stress-free and efficient.

Currently, 38 to 40 multi-space meters have been installed across Downtown Tempe and along Apache Boulevard. This significant upgrade enhances the downtown experience for both visitors and residents, blending modern functionality with thoughtful design to make parking smarter, easier, and more accessible.
