I want to create a piece that combines realism, illustration and bright colors to create a unique piece of art. I want the flowers to look realistic and delicate, the background to represent the desert scenery with the bright sun at the bottom of the composition. The cacti will be illustrated, very flat, rigid and sharp. Representing the harsh space the desert landscape can be. The contrast between the flower and the cacti will hopefully show the relationship between the harshness and delicate balance of life that can be found everywhere in the desert. My emphasis will be on the flowers and the color pallet they bring to the desert.

My design for Tempe Blooms is a Cactus Bloom. I wanted it to be lit with pinks and unnatural tones with a dark contrast while having the feeling of a layered cut out over a contrasting Heavy use of darks and lights I want viewers to feel the dynamic of the flower and the additional foliage.

My murals capture the vibrant and diverse flora of the Arizona desert. The piece likely showcases cacti, such as the iconic Saguaro, adorned with delicate blossoms, highlighting the contrast between the rugged desert environment and the intricate beauty of the flowers. The composition may include vivid colors that represent the various blooms—pink, yellow, and red—against the earthy tones of the cacti and desert landscape. My artwork reflects the resilience and splendor of nature in Arizona, celebrating the state’s unique natural beauty.

I'd like to create a cascading night flower theme focused on large budding night blooms cascading down the canvas on a starry background. The desert is incredible at night and I'd love to capture the whimsy. This is a very rough concept and the design will be edited quite heavily to fit the proper canvas proportions.

For this project I'm planning on painting 2 giant Peony Flowers with a colorful fantasy palette, using a realistic feeling on the flower pedals. The idea is the flower will resemble the Arizona sunset.

Last year, when I first learned about Tempe Blooms: Beauty of the Desert I was in awe of the concept! The first reason is because I love painting abstract flowers. The second reason was supporting my colleagues in a competition. And third reason Tempe Blooms gave me THAT FLOWER FEELING! When I paint, it is all about emotions, intentionality and feeling I receive when I am in an environment filled with beauty and support that translates into mark-making, bold brushstrokes, and vibrant abstracts! I love creating dialogue and connecting with the community! My process always involves collage, spray paint, mark-making, etc. which creates artworks that speaks to and from the soul!

The desert blooms will act as hair and will take up the majority of the space. I want to include a few different types of desert flowers/plants in this piece to emphasize the beauty of diverse peoples having the opportunities to bloom in the desert.

Self-Reflection and Growth: Just as flowers bloom, the artwork can convey messages of personal growth, introspection, and inner peace. Connection with Nature: Highlighting the way flowers and nature can bring us back to ourselves, and the importance of taking moments to pause and enjoy life’s beauty. Revitalization and Energy: The blooms evoke feelings of renewal, making this image perfect for messaging that revolves around rejuvenation, fresh starts, or revitalizing environments. The color bands can show the every changing personal growth
