New to Mill Ave is Sexy Burger. If you’re wondering about the name, you’re not alone. Naturally, I had to get the inside scoop to answer the burning question: What makes a burger sexy?
It turns out, a sexy burger starts with sexy ingredients—locally sourced, free from additives, and free from the chemicals found in so many foods these days. The owners of Sexy Burger proudly state that their menu is 100% chemical- and seed-oil-free. Yeah! They also exclusively cook with beef tallow, olive oil, and avocado oil. How's that for sexy and healthy?
During my visit, I learned from the staff—most of whom I chatted with—that this family-owned business is hyper-focused on quality and clean ingredients. As someone who grew up on Chef Boyardee in the 1980's and is now raising a young daughter, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this approach. I’ll admit, I have a sweet tooth and love indulging in good food, but it’s so much better when you don’t have to worry about hidden chemicals or additives that could be harmful.
From my brief encounter with the team, it was clear to me that they cook with love and deeply care about what they serve.

I ordered the Sexy Burger, which features honey-glazed bacon, creamy brie, roasted tomatoes, arugula, Sexy Sauce, and hot honey on a butter-toasted brioche bun. It. Was. Divine. Honestly, it’s been a long time since I’ve had a burger this good—it looked amazing and tasted even better.
Although I didn’t order a milkshake for myself (this time), I watched as they made a chocolate brownie malt from scratch. Each shake is hand-scooped, hand-spun, and absolutely Insta-worthy. If you try one, tag @downtowntempe and let us know your thoughts in the comments!
The highlight of my visit? The peach cobbler. Full disclosure: I’m not typically a fan of fruit desserts or cobblers. But when I found out it’s topped with Cinnamon Toast Crunch, I couldn’t resist. It was baked to perfection. The cereal topping added the perfect crunch, and the drizzle of caramel with a scoop of ice cream was, quite simply, 🔥🔥🔥.
