The month of May has begun, so you know what that means... Cinco de Mayo festivities are approaching! Whether you celebrate the Mexican Army's victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla by snacking on tortilla chips and salsa, or by sipping on a couple of frozen margs, Downtown Tempe is the perfect place to be on Thursday, May 5 (and always, duh!).

Here are a couple of can't-miss places to hit up this Cinco de Mayo.

Illegal Pete's on Mill, 525 S. Mill Avenue

Enjoy Cinco de Mayo on one of Mill Avenue's best patios with misters. Celebrate Cinco de Mayo on the highest rooftop in the Valley! From 3 pm - 8 pm, experience a specialty food and drink menu, live music and a pinata giveaway (must be present to win).

  • Oaxan Old Fashioned $14 (Choice of Tequila or Mezcal)
  • Desert Pear Margarita $12 (Tequila Base)
  • Pomegranate Paloma $12 (Choice of Tequila or Mezcal)

Food Menu:

Tocaya Modern Mexican, 702 S. Forest Avenue

 

Surprise everyone at the office and bring in Tocaya's Taco Bar (serves 4) - for only $55 (to-go & delivery only). If you prefer to eat and drink there, take advantage of the dine-in drink specials: Casasamigos Blanco Margarita, $7 or a Margarita for $5 or $3 bottled beers. Salud!

 

414 Pub Pizza & Karaoke, 414 S. Mill Avenue

 

Bet you never thought of a pizza & karaoke bar for Cinco De Mayo did you? Well, think again because 414 has you covered with $4 Dos XX drafts, $3 Corona Bottles and $5 Rocks Margaritas. Liquid fuel to help you belt out Santana's Oye Como Va or El Noa Noa by Juan Gabriel.

And you thought Fats was just for Mardi Gras!  Taco bout a good time. Taco Bell Cantina is the ideal place to celebrate Cinco de Mayo on Mill Avenue. Where else can you chow down and drink a cheers to the victors in the Battle of Puebla? The Cantina, of course! They wil be featuring Steak White Hot Ranch Fries & the Steak White Hot Ranch Fries Burrito. And Nacho Fries with cheese sauce. Wash them down with the cool refreshing Pina Colada Freeze. Need to grab and go and feed your army at home? The Deluxe Cravings Box features a Steak Chalupa Supreme, Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Tacos, Beefy 5-Layer Burrito, Chips & Nacho Cheese Sauce and a medium drink.

Cinco de Drinko Beer Fiesta in the Haus!. $7 Haus Margarita & Marg Garten (80% Haus Maragarita, 20% Sour Gaarten, 100% delicious), $5 Mexican Ambers and $5 Micheladas made with Day Drinker Lager.
