4 Things To Do for the 4th of July

Tag: BlogSpotlight

Believe it or not, there is still room for some fun this Independence Day.

Our current situation is straining, but as we all stay safe and do our best to protect ourselves and others, the easier we can get back to a somewhat semblance of normalcy.

Get yourself out of the house and join your family in these 4 fun activities in Downtown Tempe for the 4th of July!

Socially Distance with a Picnic

Create your own socially distance circles at Tempe Beach Park, bring your favorite foods & soft drinks and enjoy a warm summer picnic on the shores of Tempe Town Lake

There is plenty of room to play, eat, and enjoy the company of close friends and family.

BONUS! You can always rent a boat from Boats 4 Rent and get yourself out on the water and enjoy the shade beneath the beautiful bridges that span across the lake.

Cool Down with Cold Treats

After your picnic (or before), stop by Sparky’s Old Town Creamery or Slickables Ice Cream Sandwich for a sweet, cold treat. If the adults want something to slurp a little later, check out Taco Bell Cantina for some yummy food and an adult slushy to-go (they also have non-alcoholic for the kiddos).

Check out Sparky’s Instagram and Slickables Instagram for updates on specials.

Spend the Day by the Pool

If you want another way to cool down, check into one of our Downtown Tempe hotels like AC Hotel Phoenix Tempe/Downtown or Residence Inn by Marriott! As a guest at the hotels, they have an awesome pool you can use and get a nice tan while you’re at it!

A staycation may be the best cure these days.

Celebrate Democracy

One of our most important rights, is our right to vote. Over 244 years ago, our country declared its independence and instilled our right to vote for our government representation.

On July 2nd, the City of Tempe will live stream the swearing in ceremony for our new Mayor and city council members. Please take a moment to submit a heartfelt wish to our incoming and outgoing city officials on our website

To view the live stream of the ceremony, tune into Tempe 11 at 6 p.m.

Please remember to stay safe, stay supportive and stay #TempeTough
